I’m thrilled to present this month’s playlist—a journey through the 80s, crafted for everyone who lived through the late 70s and onto the 80s outside the mold. Boys, girls, and all in between, grab your rubber bracelets, lace gloves, and hairspray. This is more than just music—it’s a rebellion, a declaration of identity from a generation that forged their path without the convenience of cell phones or computers. The rockabilly’s, goths, mods, punks, and new wave outcasts, the disenfranchised of the 80s Los Angeles alternative club scene—particularly the human individuals who found their tribe at Phases in Canoga Park and created a space where diversity Inclusions and Equity thrived long before it was a trend. These are the sonic tattoos of their youth, memories in sound from those who dared to be different. Each song suggested and connected to experience and memories, both individually and collectively best times and worst, first times and last, we were there.
